Philip, as you probably know they were known as 'The groups group' all the other groups appreciated them.

The lad on the right wearing the cap was drummer Bobby Elliot. Bobby was from Burnley.

The Groups' Group, eh? I'm not surprised by that, Roy. Just a few moments ago, I'd popped 'Hollies album sleeves' into Images to see if I could find the album that I'd bought, and since parted with. No problem from thereon. It was The Hollies 20 Golden Greats.

I don't know whether any of you saw this, Bobby Elliot was on ITV Northern news a few nights ago chatting to Lucy Meacock.

Within two years of this picture being takem, Graham Nash was winging his way to the west coast of America to meet up with two very talented musicians, David Crosby and Stephen Stills: the rest is history. I did have the pleasure of seeing CSN live at the RAH in October 2015. And, I'll say it again, Stephen Stills is the finest guitarist that I have ever seen play live. A truly great band. Oh, and the Hollies weren't that bad either...:)

The bassist is Bernie Calvert who replaced Eric Haydock.

I certainly recall Allan Clarke introducing the group's new member on that night at the Emp, although I can't recall the lad's name. My idea that the show was in 66 or 67?? seems to rule out Nash having been involved in the exchange - there been other changes, at various times.

Ace group. I saw them at Southport in the late 70s.

All other groups didn't appreciate them. The Beatles for one, they didn't like the Hollies cover of "If I needed someone", with George Harrison calling it rubbish and Lennon criticising their sound.

I remember them playing live in the front garden of one of their greatest fans some year's ago, and how the host was ushered to his front door to see what the ..., and then brought to tears by the kindness of his surprise guests. It was shown on TV as it happened.
This morning, I stood within the sound of my jetwash in the back garden, where and when my neighbour, Raymond, kindly gave me a sliced loaf the size of a tour bus. Thanks again Ray.

We used to see a lot of these pop bands from Manchester and Liverpool at Charnock Richard service station after they had been performing somewhere.

We used to go late on because all the chippie used to close at 11pm in them days.

They were touring in Australia a couple of years back. Missed them in 66, missed them in Oz!

I saw them in Canberra on that tour Wigwann and saw them in Southport 9 months later.
