Probably one for Jarvo....Bill Slater (ex Wolves & England footballer) played in this game

PF, I remember watching Bill Slater's 'Wolves' beating Dave Whelan's Blackburn Rovers in the FA cup Final on TV. And I think it's safe to say that he was 'mainly a half-back' and very good player from what little I saw of him.
And could the scorer 'H Makepeace' have been the former Everton player of the same name?

Philip - Harry Makepeace was a double international. He played football for Everton and was capped by England. He also played cricket for Lancashire and played a few times for England, once scoring a century in Australia, I believe

Ranger, Also lots of test players in the Lancashire side, only missing Cyril Washbrook

Thanks Ranger. And young Makepeace hadn't been short of ability, … dual international what. PF's mention of soccer-cum-cricketer Bill Slater, and my dad's telling of Everton's Makepeace had prompted me to consider the latter's possible inclusion - Makepeace would have been in his 67th year when this photo was taken.

Not sure Bill Slater played in this game? Was he not too young? He certainly played cricket after his football days. I remember playing against him for Wigan CC at Aigburth , Liverpool when he played for LiverpoolCC . I seem to remember he was a Lecturer at one of the colleges, or Universities in Liverpool at that time after his football career.
