lovly pic kath, i remember lillys shop but it was the one on the corner of hemfield rd the one in the background was always mr sharples , lilly had a shop at the top of our st york st , off frances st, she lived with a man called briscoe think it was john briscoe, i cant be certain as i was a child then and we used to call it briscoes, then i remember lilly moving to the corner shop that was old mrs ross on corner of bell green & hemfield rd but theres something at the back of my mind that tells me that lilly moved once more to sharpleses? that shop had been closed for years so dont know why she moved thats if ime right? can you shed any light on this as i am very interested about top of lane i was born there in 1950 and had a wonderfull child hood and i come to see it often.x

Lilly Did move from the corner of hemfield rd into this shop in the picture when they pulled down the row on hemfield road.
