On 3rd March 1926, mt dad left Maidstone on the 10am train and stepped off at Wigan NW 5pm. Found lodgings near Dicconson Terrace. Thee following morning at 07.30 he reported for work through those doors as a bus body builder. He died on March1st 1984 in Standish. His 1st impression of Wigan written in his diary" not bad,but everything seems so dirty. I like the look of the trams & buses".In the late 1950's I had a visit through NC & Massey Bros. with Dad as an official visit. I was about 11 years old. Now it's a car park.
Three Southend Corporation Daimler Fleetlines pictured on the forecourt. This would be around 1981. Wigan bus bodies were popular with municipal fleets in the East of England.
In the days when they use to coach paint the buses.
