Hope you don't mind a bit of rhyme, Tim. Thanks.
"Early Impressions."
For early tread till darkened wail
Our whimsy jangles ride,
And easy sighs on wizened beams
Shall fill our hearts, with pride.
My grandma beat her well-worn rug
One morning late in May
- Its fancy scrolls had all but gone -,
Then questioned grandad's Pay.
Grandad sowed his radish, high,
Then said "They'll rise in June".
A smashing chap if e'er there was,
On wide-soles' endless bloom.
Sylvia spent her last two-pounds
On Gibbons stamp-approvals.
With lovely set of George vi
Came stubborn-hinge removal.
The speedy chap who spilled my books
- The Sign of Four, for starters -,
If only I could catch him now,
I'd have his guts for garters.
To Teacher Brads' I'd loaned a book;
A tale of fish, by Melville.
It must have took him months to read -
My fills from penny dreadful.
