Whatever it says, it's much better than that horrible Orange GMB livery, like that Sherpa behind the bus.
Walker’s Warrington Ales. Drunk many a pint, and enjoyed.
Don't recall Wigan Corporation ever doing any advertising on their buses and the bodywork on this bus doesn't look like any which Wigan Corporation had. This is probably in the Selnec era.
Taken on New Market Street when they were ripping the place apart in the 1980s.
The inland revenue offices on the corner of Mesnes st and Upper Dicconson st can be seen to left of bus. Upper Dicconson st behind orange GMT van
This Leyland bus, Reg No B140 WNB was new to Greater Manchester Transport in 1985/86. It was probably based
at Melverly Street depot. Wigan Corporation buses never
carried advertising.
It used to say Rathbones bread at the side of a Ribble bus, but you try asking for one!
This bus was actually initially in the advertising fleet of GMPTE and these tended to move garages on a quarterly basis. I was actually new at Leigh or Atherton garage for its first quarter and Wigan was its second depot, after that the contract placing adverts on new buses was scrapped, and the bus remained at Wigan. Several buses around the time this came were based at Wigan in advertising livery I remember there was more than one in advertising liveries, but as I can't remember them all or how to spell some of the odder advertisers I won't attempt to list them.
