A view from the Warrington Road side of the park entrance, showing St. Marks church without the tower.

Known by locals as Robin Park.

Also before the vicarage was built

It certainly is the original Robin Park David, that is until the council purloined the name for the road along with the sports and retail areas. I've seen another photo of the park, probably in one of the Past Forward magazines, showing a lake possibly where the tennis courts were, remember some great days in there.

Robin Park , rock hard pitches you couldn’t heel your boot in to take the kick . Hands down shorts on icy days . Afraid to tackle to avoid the ground . Only the best came through when the team sheet went up . As good as a pass my teacher used to say , as a high one was booted , the legendary up and under . Frozen to death , the question was asked ... get under it , catch it clean , dont , under any circumstances, let the ball bounce . As I watched the ball high coming towards me , I had to ignore the two frozen ones in my shorts .
