Ina Duxbury is the woman on the right in the centre.
The man on the end would be a perfect detective in disguise with those turned down wellies! ;o))
He's tall in the middle with the trilby on!!
Lovely real picture to zoom in on . You can grasp the atmosphere, in their faces .
My brother was in CID at Halewood until he suffered an extremely bad accident in 1976 from which he never recovered and he passed away last October. But he had The Human Touch and became a popular member of the police force in Halewood with both colleagues and citizens. I will never forget how an elderly Irish lady, (a real character!), wrapped her arms round a lamp-post one night and refused to go to the police-station. "Oi'll go with Col", she said, and my brother had to be roused from his sleep at 2am to persuade her to let go of the lamp-post and go to the police-station…..she went like a lamb! A little of The Human Touch goes a long way! RIP, Our Colin. xx
What a lovely story Irene. RIP Colin x
So sorry Irene, to learn of the loss of your your brother. He will always be near to you, even as a gentle breeze brushing against your cheek, and you do know where, but you don’t know when. You both will meet each other again. May he rest in eternal happiness, and peace.
The training courses for detectives were run at Wakefield, according to information in the Chief Constable's Annual Report of 1960.
Correct, Reverend.
