From other pics in the album, I think he's fourth from the left in the middle row... but Albert may know better - and perhaps may be able to say where he appears in the Red Rock School pics.
This looks very much like Bruche Rev. Long, but the other group photos, while undoubtedly being of police training courses involving officers from different forces, look to have been taken at a different location.
The majority of people on this photo hold the rank of Sergeant or above, so quite possibly a photo of instructing staff, or a course for newly promoted Sergeants.
I see Bruche wasn't established for Police training until 1946 - in wartime buildings erected in 1940/41 - so, as you say, the earlier pics would have been taken elsewhere.
This photograph appears to have been taken at Bruche. During the war it was a U.S.A.F supply station, with connections to the U.S.A. F. Station .Burtonwood.. I remember Insp. Bilsborough, but for the life of me I cannot remember his features. Aubrey Fairclough will be a good source to have the correct information. With me serving twenty four years in the Kent Police, matters have become blurred.
Where are you, Albert? As soon as I saw these excellent police photos I was sure Alberts would respond, and hope he does. One of the nicest people on Wigan World Album. Hope he sees these.
Irene. As there are now two Albert’s I now have added a S.
Right you are, Albert S! So good to hear from you.....always a Gentleman. xx
Thank you Irene for your kind words.
