Remember it well. There was an entrance on Market Street and another entrance in Commercial Yard, where my husband Peter worked at Sawbridge's Butchers as a 17-year-old. I was still at school and went to Latimer's for fresh yeast, (which my Mam always called "barm"), as we were making bread in Domestic Science. That was 51 years ago and we had our 45th wedding anniversary yesterday!
Every Saturday morning with a basket , I had to queue in the shop for a pound of lean bacon. Another shop with its own aroma! Couldn't go anywhere else- then on to Voses for steak pies! I always went in the side entrance from down Commercial Yard and went back the same way. Ah! The memories!
This has been on before and that chap is still looking out of the Conservative Club window.

Forty-fifth, Irene. Admiral. Now give yourselves a play of Kenneth McKellar singing The Island of Tiree.
Never mind Irene - just look inside the radiogram - you might find some peppermint creams!
