This Leyland lorry belongs to Alfred Goulding Ltd.
The company was still in operation up to about 2002.
In its later days it was run by Arnold Kendrick & family.
Nice one Ron, I remember Alfred Goulding when depot was on pottery rd they used to transport all yarns & cotton sheets from eckersleys, also remember regular driver Les Kendrick who also worked as a coach driver with my father.
I remember the fellmongers when I worked at Wigan Co-op in the 1960s when lorries piled high with sheep fleeces would go in, they later moved to Bradley Hall when the dual carriageway was built, I would watch the men cover the skin side of the fleeces with salt presumably to cure them, I suppose they later became rugs etc. - sheepskin rugs along with sheepskin coats being all the rage then.
I worked there from 1959 till 1965 I do not rember them going to bradly hall because Istarted for h.j.heinz in 1966 at Standish where bradly hall is
I leaned my trade there as a profecional lorry driver when all there was at that time was rope and sheets no tauinets as of now.
