God love um,they look a happy bunch.
The lad on the end top right, could that be Brian Baybutt?
Obviously pre-Murphy days. But he would soon appear in his 'good man' guise and terrorise the lot of um...
Was St Cuthbert's in Norley Hall in 1948? I only remember the schools on Ellsmere Road and Cuthbert St.
Keith, was this photo taken on the land at Brindley Street,
there are now flats built on the land.
If this was Brindley St then the building in the background was the old school meals kitchen and dining hall where St Cuthberts kids went for their dinners.
there was no st cuthberts in norley hall in 1948. there was a wooden st cuthberts infant school near the Carnegie library in the 1940s- 1950s which burned down, the others were in Cuthbert st, brindley st and one at the bottom of broom rd worsley hall. I went to all of them.
So did I Peter, the one on Worsley Hall was Bramble Grove, next to the slag tip.
