Hope you like my rhyme DTease. Thanks.
"Wigan Pier in the Snow."
I haven't seen these hues before, when sharing frosty morn's;
Fired bricks of 'burning gold' embracing snow, adorned.
Then stay your hand, O solar king, and let this scene abide!
My only thought; this winter's gown, and those for more defied.
A glorious past, is echoed here - late awnings given say
And welcome held for feathered friends, no room for people, prayed.
Still firm of foot, I look beyond, to shadowed mill of might;
A powerhouse of cotton spun; those ladies' hands once sleight.
I do like your poem Philip, I'll make a copy of this photo and your poem combined. The two go well together.
Thanks.
A fine photo that cries out for words. Philip's lovely crafted verse has prompted some thoughts .
FURTHER AFIELD
The Mississippi sun burns in the cut.
Her cotton has fallen on the towpath.
The Plantation songs are frozen and mute
As the Shuttle and Jenny and Spinning Mule
Reflected there in the orange glow
Of the stunned glaced water
Incandescent with cold.
Another fine verse Poet. I may start a collection.
DTease.
I'm glad that you like my poem, and that you also find that it tally's with your photo. Thanks.
Poet.
A sensitive verse from yourself, Sir. And just who, exactly, had said that 'the frost was cruel' … Ah! Crispo.
jarvo will be jealous of your poems.!!
I don't kno,w why I didn't comment on this photo previously. It is really beautiful and a credit to you Dtease. Also lovely to see Philip's poem - God rest his lovely soul.
