Just bought a collection of some old HEALTH and STRENGTH magazines. Opened one of them up dated 17th August 1967 and saw this photo. On the next page is a photo of Kathleen Winstanley who the year after went on to become Miss United Kingdom (see previous photo.)

If you come across the May 1960 issue there’s a cover photo of another local lad. Tony Rothwell as Mr Great Britain.We were on the same mechanical engineering course at Wigan Tech.

Jinsky, John G, I keep doing that Body Mass Indicator thingy, but no matter how I fiddle the sums my little dot never ends up in the green bit. Last time I did it the Indicator claimed that I should have been given the Last Rites three years ago!!
