I would think it is 1987 according to the films being shown.
Looking at the films it's 1987.
Some things didnt change, I remember queueing too....in the early 1950s.
Helen I remember queueing in the late 50s early 60s on Sunday night
If it was raining you could always stand in woolworths doorway, when you got up to it.
Didn't there used to be an hairdresser across the road called andre banere if I am right.Does anyone remember.
Daylight, women out shopping, mums with buggies and lots of children in the queue, could it have been Saturday morning Minors I wonder or was one of the films advertised suitable for young-uns ?.
Andre Bernard I believe it was Julie, my sister worked there a while - it had a large glass front and a young lady coming down the stairs hurriedly one day attempted to go straight out onto the pavement, unfortunately not realising it wasn't an open door, she rebounded onto the floor of the salon, leaving a facial imprint on the window. I'm sure she recovered but it made you wince.
Does anyone remember Wilbrooks credit firm exactly facing The Ritz..I worked there in the office when I was sixteen...The Ritz was sumptuous inside, such a pity it had to go.
In the photo ,three wiganers and a scouser.charlies mum worked here in the 60s. In the ticket booth.
The cafe across the road was the New way but it was known as Sam's cafe.
You're right Eric. Doris Watson was her name. Married to Bob who worked in Plesseys Lamberhead Green.
