My wife worked at Nimans across the road from here and would call in there for "bath chaps" i.e. pigs cheek!for our tea. Mark Williams daughter Beth was a regular customer at Nimans

Its the sawdust on the floors that I remember in the butcher's shops of that period. I liked to shuffle it about with my feet making patterns on the floor! What I didn't like was seeing the cows going to be slaughtered in Scholes- as a four year old it was very scary!
