This was the 1st car my Father bought in 1954 from a garage in Wigan. The photograph was taken on 15-04-196 on the last run out before being scrapped.
Mum in the driving seat though she never drove.
The venue is Cockerham Sands on the Lancashire coast which was a favourite place to go in the 50's & 60's.Persons of a certain age living in Standish in the 1950's would remember seeing this red car being pushed down Grove lane and Wigan Road often to get it started-she had a mind of her own!!! Had many miles on the clock when we scrapped it.(I seen some of these vehicles in motor museums in the UK)

Barrie, thanks for the story of Ethelred the Unready.
Hi Barrie, to bad to hear the car was scrapped, but thanks for sharing. The military Austin 8HP military tourers are now heavily searched for. Can you please contact me to share some more details, so I am able to complete some details in the Austin 8 Register. I have several Austin Eights under which is a military one.
