A time when everything was looking so precarious. Life,and futures had to be regarded with the utmost optimism. Thank God Albert came through it safely.

Didn't they have very elaborate bouquets at that time? The groom wearing uniform made sure they would never forget when they got married... In war time! How lovely to look back on and I bet they had a tale to tell about their wedding day.

I remember Mrs. Cadman ,the milk business was on the corner of Sherwood Drive and Larch Avenue.Ilived in Closebrook Road at the time.It was later taken over by Kays.

Yes Thomas your right they lived at 7 Sherwood drive Tom remembers those days very well as he delivered the milk with his mum before school 7 days a week they don't know they are born these days!!

They must have delievered to our house on Briar Road.

My grandfather lived on Sherwood Drive and I remember visiting every Sunday afternoon in the 50' they were very nice houses. He had lovely wild roses growing in the front garden. There were fields for miles in the front of the houses. I suppose the fields have been built on by now - it would be interesting to go back to see. It would be the late fifties when I was there last.

I remember when that area was my beat, in the early sixties, at the very bottom of Ridyard Street, there was a pub named The Montrose, I suppose that that has now gone.

When I first got married in the very early sixties, My wife, and I lived on the right hand side of Ormskirk Road, just before Carnegie Library. On the corner of Ridyard Street, their was a delightful family grocery business, where my wife traded. Can anyone remember the family name?.

To put the record straight. In my previous comment. "When I first got married etc." Very pleased to confirm that I am still married to that same lovely lady. Sorry for the ambiguous sentence.
