The bush has had ex rugby players as land lords in the past ,Billy Boston, Jimmy belshaw, Brian catteral.
Billy Boston was landlord of this pub, I can't remembe the exact date , I think it was the late 60s . I know he didn't stay very long.
The bloke is little Jack Parkinson who lived around the corner in Ennerdale place with his Mrs, Sheila.
Use to a Tetley's ale house.
With you on that one Garry, Burtonwood ale can be like canal water, but at the right temperature in clean lines I have had a very good pint, as I recall I think I have been in here with a mate of mine, also is it the engine in belle green lane.
I have some recollection of a pub with a kind of witch's shaped hat, on one of the corners. The Prince of Wales was right at the top, on the left hand side, going towards the top, if my memory serves me right.
Starting at the bottom of Belle Green Lane. The Engineers Arms, (closed) the Belle Green Inn, (closed) The Oak Tree, (open) The Bush, (Restaurant) and The Prince of Wales (demolished).
Garry. Was that a pub with the queer shaped top , on one corner?.
Yes Albert it was the Belle Green pub, situated half way up Belle Green lane on the left hand side, next to Pennington lane.
Albert - do you mean the building with a turret on one corner?
If so, that was the Belle Green Inn.
Garry/Mick. Yes , that was the one that I was referring to. Thank you both.

My mother-in-law ran the Bush Inn for two years during the 1960s. She talks about it in detail in the podcast I produce with her. It’s called, “Mondays with Milly”. John and Doreen Connolly - (she’s 90 now and has a great memory). The podcast link is here for anyone interested:
