Ron: This is a very attractive building the sandstone brick with interlocking stone support very well built, also old fashioned mullioned windows at a time from the 17th century.
I get the impression that eight score-draws alone wouldn't have secured this pile. I can see it now though, my own racehorse photographed on the front lawn for the benefit of Schweppes Sporting Calendar's month of June ... Billinge Reverie, Lester Piggott up, Epsom Derby winner. You never know, though. A much better photo Ron. Thanks.
Ron, does anyone live there now.
According to the 1961/62 official guide to Wigan Rural District Lancashire, this hall is situated in Dalton Lees near the site of the old pack road running through the Douglas Valley from Ormskirk to Wigan. It was reportedly to be haunted by the "The White Lady" who appeared on the lawn when death threatened the occupants of the hall. Priests "hiding holes" are reported to have been constructed within the building.
