Houghton family

My father as a baby pictured with my Grandparents George and Lilly Houghton.
One of the things you notice is that the boy is in a dress, he'd probably be about four or five when he would have boys clothing. Breeching was an important rite of passage in the life of a boy, looked forward to with much excitement, and often celebrated with a small party. It often marked the point at which the father became more involved with the raising of a boy.

whats your fathers names i will look up his baptism was he born in wigan
Winnie,
Thank you for your kind offer. I have Dad's Baptism record, in fact I have traced my Houghton's back to 1724. Unfortunately Lilly's Grandfather was born in Tyrone, Ireland in 1800, so that is as far as I have got with her line.
My Grandfather, George Edward (pictured) was a master tailor, and had a shop at 57 Mesnes Street. Looks a good advert for his trade, doesn't he?
