Whilst Orrell were viewed as a forward dominated team, a surprising number of backs signed professional. David Fell (Salford) and John Gilfillan (Wigan) are two in this 'photo, Gerry Ainscough (kicking) and Simon Langford (background) both turned down large offers from Widnes.
