Newtown W.M. Club
Are all of these mentioned clubs, now just memories?.
Albert, I've done a search and only Newtown and Lamberhead Green clubs are still going, the rest as you say are memories, all were packed to the rafters at one time with the blue, hazy fog of tobacco smoke hanging over the heads of the clientele.
Noticed that the Sunday noon session at Lower Ince was men only, remember when the Market Hotel had a men only room - there'd be riots today.
I wonder when they stopped calling it Housey and started calling it Bingo?
Cyril. Spent quite a few evenings in the Lower Ince, and the Higher Ince clubs, in the middle fifties, when there were rows of tables, especially at weekends, with all the seating taken. Some very good entertainment was there to be enjoyed. That type of entertainment is of a bygone age now.
You're right there, Albert! Days when there was respect for others and foul language in a pub or club would have been nipped sharply in the bud by the landlord or even the customers. You are a living example of those days, Albert... a true Gentleman, and I love to read your comments. x.
And you, a lady of the old school, Irene. God bless you.
