Johnny Gee's father was the legendary Wigan RL prop forward Ken Gee.
There's a few lads I know here, hopefully not any of the 5 deceased.
Would you mind sharing?
Where was the ground located?
That's my cousin: George Giles.
The ground's still there Alex, Douglas Valley.
And is the club house still there, Tully.
Sorry Tuddy not Tully.
Yes, the clubhouse is still there, and can be hired for celebrations, etc.
I met Gordon Ramsdale at the Wigan Museum of Life a couple of weeks ago when a certain gentleman called Michael Clarke gave a brilliant talk about the Leeds to Liverpool Canal's 200th anniversary.
Again, on Thursday,at the M of W L, a talk about Egyptian Mummies.
Very interesting.
I now know why some mummies looked as though they had been decapitated.
Unfortunately Alan Nye, John Gee, Dave Brogan, Gary Jones and Les Barton are no longer with us.
I used to have a pint or few with Les's dad, who used to tell me, Les could have been a much better player than he was, he said he was inclined to be lazy AND didn't like training, how true would that be Martin.
Played with Les at Rose Bridge,he was a great player and a true gentleman. Got to agree with his dad he wasn't the best of trainers though. Also nice to see a young Martin Mcloughlin who also was a great league player at St Pats.
Martin, front row 2nd left is Paul Doherty
Seeing the building reminds me of the superb disco that used to be fortnightly on a Saturday night during the 60's.
Was in the same class as Gary Jones, very sorry to hear of him passing.
His parent used to have the Fishergate in Pemberton in the 70's.
