Did Tommy Moss run the dance school? And wasn't it over the top of The Ritz/ABC Cinema at one time?
yes irene, it was where you said. i went there in the early 60's, a guy named stan, can't remember his surname ran it when i went.
No Tommy Moss didn't run it. You are right about Stan, but I cannot remember his last name. One of the teachers name was Barbara.
Tommy Moss' school of dancing was behind the market square bus station, Hope St ? over the Savoy cafe.
got all my gold medals at the court.....excellent years!
Still got all my certificates, sad isn't it.
Although we did learn to dance at school - in the sixties it was considered 'square'!! Later on in the eighties and nineties I rediscovered sequence dancing and my favourite was the Square Tango. I remember Tom Moss's wife Bridie from my days at the ROF.
I went line-dancing many years ago with my friend and the class was run by Tommy and Bridie.
I was taught how to trip the light fantastic, at Gee's School of Dancing, in King Street, West. Then I enjoyed myself at the "Villa Marina", and the other three dance venues, on the I.O.M. A great time was had by all. Early, to mid fifties. Was never a class dancer.
I used to go to a tap dancing class in Wigan. It was held in the upstairs rooms of a building along the street from the Congregational Church & practically opposite the old bus station in the Market Sq. I knew it as The Moss School of Dancing.
Yes, that would have been Tom Moss, Helen. I believe he taught dancing along with his sister, Hilda.
Hi Irene, I have been line dancing now for 20 odd years and the very first session my friends and I went to was at St Theresa's in Upholland, the teacher was Tommy Moss and his wife Bridie, he was a hard taskmaster but an amazing dancer! He wouldn't let us sit down for a minute!!!
The guy named Stan, his last name was Ingram and was my grandad.
