I remember this Church very well as a child. It was built of good quality brick, making it outstanding in Platt Bridge !
Is this the church that was on the corner of Dicconson St ?
It looks so different with no buildings crowding around it, must have been newly built.
Oops, I need to go to a certain opticians ! Just seen Platt Bridge
Witten in the corner
Thank you for this. We could see the back of this from the back of our house in Millers Lane. They had a field & in the Walking Day weekend, which was for all 3 \Methodist chapels in Platt Bridge, they had sports. I was useless.
i remember this church my sister olive god bless her got married here in 1956
The Wesleyans had a Cricket Field to the rear of the Church.
Where was/is the church?
Ron - if you look on Google Earth, you can still see the front wall of the churchyard fronting Walthew Lane - on the corner of Peel Street.
That house ended up with a nice garden wall.
The cricket ground & the Sunday School originally belonged to Zion Chapel. When they ran out of money, the Wesleyans bought them. this was long before my time.
Oh the memories I went to Wesleyan Sunday school yes I remember you john bailey , Margaret morris , ste Shirley and Joe hart , we lived at number 46 millers lane happy days
