Handsomeminer, there was a very apt nickname for Greenhall Whitley beer where the W was replaced with S.
Did the copper sheeting on the roof get nicked or did it get painted over with black paint, it always looked nice with the green verdigris.
Should have been called Phoenix (rising from the ashes!)
Flat roof made a great playground.
My late mum worked and on occasion ran the pub when the landlords were on holiday, they were called John & Brenda Pickett. I watched the Charles & Diana wedding while living there temporarily in 1981.
