Bickershaw Colliery and the Britannia Hotel, Crankwood Road/Plank Lane photographed in 1992. Whilst to all intents and purposes this area is part of Leigh it was formerly within the area of the Abram Urban District Council until 1974

You would'nt recognize the place now marina were the pit shaft is located

My great grandfather's brother had the grey horse inn on plank lane does anyone remember this pub.
I recall it well as I do all the other public houses on Plank Lane being born in The Spring View Inn when my grandfather was the licensee. I have photographs of them all except the Bowling Green from over the canal. I am still searching for one.
My Grandfather Harry Hoy owned the bowling green inn. Have a few pictures of inside pub and one of bowling green on back but no picture of front.
