Great set of photos Eddie. Just about see Hesketh brothers Ironmongers hardware store and the other end of the buildings was Anderton's pushbike shop, petrol station and milk delivery shop all in one, great.
Manchester rd Ince bar. The photo is take from the bus stop area.Looking towards Rose bridge.
I can see Hesketh's Ironmongers and Hardware Shop. I loved it in there; if you bought nails or screws they weighed then out from cardboard boxes onto little scales and tipped them into a paper bag. When The Doric, ("Bug") cinema closed, Hesketh's used it as their store-room for hardboard etc. I went in once and it felt so creepy! I remember the second shop in the photo, next to what I think is Williams Deacons Bank, (or was it Williams and Glynn's).....like a lot of shops it had yellow plastic-stuff over the window, the colour of Lucozade, to protect the goods in the window from the sun. Wonderful photo, Eddie, and hard to believe there were all those shops in what, today, looks like a small area.
Thanks Garry, I wasn't too sure.
Can you see the walking day banner, well that's where the Post Office to the right was located on the left hand side of the pebble dash building. To remind everyone look at item number 26951.
