That doorway brings back many memories, it was where I used to meet my date , now my hubby , 52 yrs ago
Thanks for all the photo's "RON"
Dunn & co Men's outfitters and hatters visible on the left.
Ron. This photograph must have been taken in the sixties. When I did point duty here in the fifties, there wasn't any traffic lights. There was a police emergency telephone pillar, also on the corner outside of that building, at the time that I am referring to.
Barry, I remember Broadmeads well - all fronted in shiny grey Melamine and radiograms displayed on the entrance steps on the curve between Market Place and Library St. The branch of Dunns men's outfitters was originally in Wallgate opposite what was Ashton's tobacconists.
I used to meet my now husband on Broadmeads corner every night,54 years ago.His 21st Birthday from his parents a reel to reel tape recorder was purchased from here.
The photo is later than the 1960s Albert, Halifax didn't open until the late 1970s. Before that it was Civic Stores, I worked there in 1969-70, there were no traffic lights then either.
It use to be a TV and electrical store before that bank. Iv'e bin there.
