The three chimneys will be at the old Lawns works, which used to make earthenware drain pipes and fire bricks.

Travelling east towards Orrell Station, the line becomes double tracked. Just after Edge Hall Road, the lines becomes quadrupled with a 'down' and 'up' loop. These go as far as Winstanley Sidings and Pemberton No2 signal box. After passing the gantry, the lines revert back to double to enter Pemberton Station. After leaving the station and passing Pemberton No1 box, the lines split at Pemberton Junction; the main line via Newtown to Wigan Wallgate; and the Pemberton Loop via Westwood to Hindley North.
