Photo of Sarah Jane Simm 1882-1964 kindly provided by Joe Cawford as she was his grandmother. Sarah was my great grand aunt and was the sister of John Simm 1868-1914 my great grandad, and also sister of Alice Simm 1880-1932 my great grandmother.They lived at 64 Boyswell Lane with their parents William Simm and Ann Simm (nee Roby).

My Mam always wore pinnies, too. A lot of the ladies of Sarah's day were called by both their Christian names, eg Sarah Jane instead of just Sarah. I remember an old lady who lived near us was always "Maggie-Jane", and a shop-owner nearby was "Martha-Ellen", and my Dad used to talk of a relative who he always referred to as "Our Sarah-Alice".
