The times I've waited outside this station and used it for trips to Southport (Floral Hall). If a date was late I would nip into the Victoria for a swift half and watch for her arrival.

We used to wait in the newsagent's doorway across the road from the station for the school bus to John Rigby. Watched the Kinks stroll up from the North Western one morning, in town for an appearance at the Ritz!
The car on the right looks like a Ford Zephyr 6. I had one just like it but my reg was GGE 581
The reg plate, Fred was a B denoting 1964. Great cars those Zephyrs. My Dad had a Zephyr Zodiac, the later model which was square-shaped!

The car on the left is definitely a Ford Zephyr four or Six as featured in late episodes of Z Cars and appears to have what was then a Southport registration (ending in WM). I had a 1964 Vauxhall Cresta with an AWM Southport reg. The other prominent car is a Mk1 Ford Cortina.
