I love the interiors of old churches. Recently visited Rome and saw inside the daddy of all churches....Basilica San Pietro. Mama Mia!
Giovanni..you lucky thing,I bet it was beautiful.
It was Maureen. I took loads of photos; some I may transform into watercolours/acrylics. Went into the Vatican Museum and saw wonderful paintings by Bellini, Raphael and Caravaggio. Breathtaking and inspiring. Pity I'm not on the Forum otherwise I would share!!
Giovanni i visited St Peters and the vatican museum amazing treasures in both especially Michael Angelo's sculpture of the virgin Mary and baby jesus,And the Sistine chapel something i will never forget fabulous as was all of Rome.
It was special Dave. A never-to-be-forgotten experience!
Nice to see this picture.. My grandparents Fred Lewis married Daisy Wood here in 1907, only 3 years before this photo was taken. They migrated after getting married, to Australia.
Giovanni - you say you like to look at the interiors of old churches. Have you watched the film The Way with Martin Sheen? People make pilgramages along The St Camino de Santiago, or The Way of St James'. It is 800km (or 597 miles long) and their destination is The Cathedral of St James. The interior of the Cathedral is unbelievable.
Linda,we watched that film, absolutely loved it..
and have watched again since..the church is beautiful..what I'd not give to be able to do that
Pilgrimage.
Let me know when you are going it Maureen and I'll join you.
