Rita, please don't burst my bubble don't tell me she was a transvestite from kitt green, first time I have seen the girl I wish I had known about her in the 60s.
sorry you didn,t know of this 60s beauty queen.whatever made you think that? she was a very beautiful and fit natural young lady and a credit to wigan coming runner up to miss world dont ya think
I remember the newpapers making a fuss because they said she had her boyfriends named tattooed on her knee that was covered with a plaster , a workmate who told me this wife who was a friend of Kaths also had one on her knee.
Mick your right, the plaster is just above her right knee.
look at item number 20754 in printers.
My mum lived next door to Kathleen Winstanley and her mum and dad when she lived at Prescott lane in the 50s and 60s, were friendly neighbours to a point until the Winstanleys then decided to fence in a side entry between the two houses stopping people walking down it. After that I think they kept their distance. You always get awkward neighbours. I agree though Kathleen was a real beauty. There is a film of her in a contest in Blackpool (I think) in 1968 on British Paths; love how the narrator of the film pronounces her surname in a posh manner as Kathleen WINstanley not the way we northerners would say it:)
Must have been one of those 60s fads Mick to put your boy friend on your knee with a plaster,if I go to kitt green now I'll get done or crash looking at all the girls knees for plasters.
Just had a look Alex and you can see it
There is a photo by Colin Harlow on WW,Work,Printers, page 5 of Kathleen and Arnold Schwarzenegger when he visited her in Kitt Green.
I used to work with her mum Lily, in the weaving shed at eckersleys mill in 1968 x
so so sorry to hear rita passed away. so so sorry. broke my heart when I read the page. I am heart broken to hear this news in 2018 several years of her passing. I was in love with her so much and we shared some wonderful times. I am 66 years old now and I will forever treasure fond memories of a beautiful, energetic, charismatic and gorgeous lady who was part of my young and exciting life. Thank you Rita and I still love you.
