Driver of Crewe built D1845 is clearly ready for the off as he looks back down his train at wigan north western & is more than likely waiting for the guards green flag.

Possibly 1970?

D1845 was later renumbered under the British Rail T.O.P.S. system to 47195 in December 1973 & remained in service with BR until November 1991.

Final scrapping & disposal of 47195 was in March 1994 at Coopers Metals Attercliffe near Sheffield.

Lots of nice railway photos taken by Walter Prescott on Wigan World! Copyright and ascribing of photos rests with the person who took the photo not with someone who buys one on eBay or at a car boot sale! Someone may own a Leonardo da Vinci but they didnt paint it, he did! Copyright on photos lasts up until 75 years after the death of the photographer!
