Brilliant! I remember Melling's shoe-shop.
And William and Deacons Bank.
I think this was an Ince Parish walking day as i recall some of the senior girls at the front of the prosession...But i am unable to remember their names...Mrs Melling used to play the violin in the back of the shop and we would hang around until she had finished........
Williams Deacon's Bank Ltd (1836-1970). Remember the orange coloured plastic sheet in Mellings shoe shop window to stop the sun fading the leather shoes.
I would have been on the front of the banner in this photo.Girl on left of the 3 is Betty Lucas and yes on the right a lovely friend Lily Fleming from Christopher Street Ince
just look at all the varied shops we had, shoe shops, fruit shops, hardware, wallpaper shops even a shop that sold fireplaces and rias even had apetrol pump outside, what do we havw now, a selection of kebab shops, i rest my case.
How right you are, kam, but at least we have the memories.
what school is this ?
