Aubrey, where was this building situated? I must have passed it umpteen times, on my way to , and then back, from the Maypole Colliery, at the end of the forties, and into the early fifties, I have an inkling it was opposite the parish church,on that very sharp bend, but I cannot really remember.

The building is still there, at the top of the hill, round the corner from the church.

Spot on, Albert. That's exactly where it was, and still is, although it's apartments now, but better than being demolished, and still an imposing building.

I had a look at this building Irene, on Google Maps. It shows you the building being reconstructed into flats. It was surrounded by scaffolding. I believe the date was 2011.
