Humphrey Glover in uniform on the photo had the Fishing Tackle Shop on Ormskirk Road next door to Mason's Stores, 215A Ormskirk Road.,Newtown.
Remember Humphrey well in the tackle shop. He was usually smoking a cigar as I recall - something of a rarity in the 1960s.
I remember the young Humphrey and Adrian, Last time I saw Humphrey he had just opened a fishing tackle shop in Standish, but I don't think he had at long.
Michael, why don't you send a letter to The Unknown Soldier. It's an on line memorial to the fallen of WW1, so far he has received over 19000 .it ends at 11pm on August 4th. If you type in Unknown Soldier it explains the project. Thank you for posting your photographs.
Tom, Could you please let me have the web address, as I don't think it is http://www.unknownsoldier.org
Thanks, Michael
I remember Humphrey as an older man in the tackle shop though he is quite recognisable on the above photo.
Michael, sorry I did reply yesterday but it must of got lost in the ether ,
Type in Letter to an unknown soldier , and you will find the details .You can read the moving letters. I'am glad you're taking part in this memorial, particularly as your family was touched by WW1, Regards, Tom.
I remember Humphrey from our days in Pem in the fifties and the tackle shop in Newtown. Memories fade though but I do recognise the face.
