Dennis; Which map is this a part of?
Earnest... it is the Wigan OS 1929 edition.
Can see munroes on there, anybody name all the rest?
This map has made it all clear to me. My Grandpa was a lecturer at the Mining & Technical College ( centre right) He wrote articles for a mining publication, that was published by a company in Rowbottom Sq (down left) I used to go with my Grandpa to a printers in The Wiend (Sidebottoms ?) so I now see them all the places in relation to each other..thanks Dennis.
There was another printers in the Wiend just past the 'W' in the word Wiend on the left had side near Tickles shop.
Was the pub, next to the bank, on the Market Place, "The Cross Keys". or am I way off beam.
Albert; Put `cross keys` in search box above this photo.

The bank next to Moon under Water with the red tiles,(corner of the Weind) was "Martins"
The "Moon under Water " was the "Cross Keys Hotel"

Thank you Ernest. I wonder if other correspondents' can name the various pubs indicated on this map?. I have been away from Wigan that long a time, I am unable to.
Next to lowes was the golden lion anybody know any more?
Dennis; Have you any older maps showing the Wiend? Garry on photo adjacent to this in `Places` is saying it should be Weind.
Eric the pub next to Lowes was the WHITE LION The GOLDEN LION was next to the RAVEN
Interesting to note that from The Commercial Yard the entrance into Market Street appears once to have been under cover.
The were once three pubs leading up the Wiend from Millgate one on the right hand corner and two further up on the right, can anyone name them?
