My Dad George Guest worked for Cromptons in the rolling mill at Edge Green for over thirty years until it closed.
Where was the photo taken and who where they?

The old gentleman is Old Tom Crompton, born 1829 and the young lad is his Grandson, Thomas Crompton, born 1886. I have spoken to who would be the "current" Thomas Crompton, but he doesn't know who the ladies are, or where the picture was taken.
Today's Thomas Crompton, the last time I spoke to him, was in Middlesborough with his family.
If any of the Crompton family that lived on Bolton Road then moved to the new house behind the park,I would just like to ask do you remember Nana Lily
I take it then , that the Thomas Crompton inbetween these 2 ( Tom Cropmtons son ) , was the Chairman of the NAVC when it was founded in 1889
