Watched a programme last night which featured the Liverpool-Leeds Canal....& Wigan. Looks very different today.
The canal would have been drained for maintenance work.It is nice walk up these locks

Helen, I watched it too, Thuoght Baldrick(Tony Robinson) was great.I was born in Ince in 1936 and learned a lot about the Top Place. We used to play in what was left of the foundations of the buildings in the 40's. Super programme.
Top place ruins was our playground too alan in the 50s and early 60s things to climb on and into, tunnels places to make fires and shelter from the rain a railway line ran through it. We played on the rail trucks as they went downt and across belle green lane.... A proper playground...our childhood seem to last forever..
