This shot really brings back some great memories.The expresses made the whole station shake.Sometimes we were turfed off the station and went down the side of Wallgate where you could still see the main line
Sorry to nit-pick but shouldn't your caption read "passing" Wigan - the Caledonian was a limited load train and only called at Carlisle on it's journey from Glasgow to London

re this loco it was the one that caused the terrible accident at Harrow/Wealdstone October 1952!
