On Feb 5th, Wigan won this match 14 - 9. Brian Nordgren kicking 4 goals, Ashcroft and Parr scoring tries. No silverware for Wigan that season, in fact it was 1958 before Wigan won "silver" again - 5 years after signing the great Billy Boston. Team:- Platt, Boston, Broome, Nordgren, Bolton, Parr, Armstrong, Richardson, Featherstone, Hill, W. Collier, Street.
