I wonder if Mr. Farrimond is related to The Farrimonds of Farrimond's Chippy on Church Street? Although I came from Ince, I worked at Richardson's Chemists at 81, High Street, Standish, from 1970-1973. I used to go across the road to Farrimond's chippy for my dinner and recently a friend took me there and I was amazed to discover that it still looked exactly the same, forty years on! (And the chips were just as good!)
Could this Mr Farrimond possibly be related to Mr Norman Farrimond who was a music teacher at UpHolland Secondary (High school)for many years.
The Curate in the middle is Mr Robinson. I was married at St Wilfrids in 1959 by Mr Robinson, the Curate
I believe this would be Richard Farrimond, F.T.C.L, organist and choir master for many years at St. Wilfrid's and brother to my grandmother. Many from the family came to Canada, but ties were maintained.
Irene, Farrimond's Chippy was without doubt the best outside of Millgate, it was tiny inside. In the 80's and 90's I think half of Shevington drove up there on a Friday night, the one in Shevington only sold frozen triangles, not fresh fish!.
They had funny opening hours, something like Friday supper and Saturday lunch time. It's now The Siam House Thai Takeaway!
