The only place I remember for the Fair was on the waste ground behind the Methodist Chapel.
The wastland where the former Kwiksave now Iceland is now.
I remember the fair being behind the Palace and King Billy
I too remember it being behind the King Billy Phil. I was about seven and got a good hiding from my mother for going to the fair when she told me I hadn't to.
Behind the Palace and King Billy spent good times there
We only moved to Platt Bridge in 1971. I can remember taking my children to the fair....my son was born in 1976 and my daughter in 1981. It was where Iceland Store is now.
I remember Silcocks funfair behind the Palace Cinema. As kids we always looked forward to the fair coming.Platt Bridge was a different place then !
It all depends on when photo was taken, In the late 60's when I was younger the fair was behind the King Billy pub, but later I think it was moved to where Kwik Save was.
I agree with you Steve, Platt Bridge was a different place then, I loved living there,I lived there till from 1956- 1981
Anyone who grow up in platt bridge in the 80s should no this place if u look at the pic proper you can see old b+i works that ended up bein kelbit works in back ground, I spent alot of my child hood playing on that land it was also place travelers set up camp
Platt Bridge was a nice little village in the 40s 50s 60s and early 70s till the riff raff moved in
