The usual slagging off of the council by the clueless, this land is being used for housing, yes..but they will be built by the council for themselves, for rent!....

Ken when you and I went in 1945 it was seperate boys and girls and there were no railings ( They had gone to the war effort) our old mate Dixie still lives in Moore ST Seeing this demolition must be sickening him as much or more than us.

The door what you can see in the picture was the enterance to some of our classrooms, the first classroom was on your right side it was 2m4 and Miss Lydon was our form teacher, so many memories about the school, like rest of wigan all the good buildings or either demolished or neglected. SHAME!!!

i was head boy at whelley in 1962..very happy memories,think margaret lowe was head girl.aint seen many old school friends since..sad to see it go !!
