looks like a young Frank Collier to me

I think it's Bill Collier (Frank's brother) 2nd from right, front row. Far right back row is George Woosey. 5th from left back row may be Alan Armstrong ?

Second left front row I think is Frank Griffin, 2nd from right, Bill Collier . Back row 2nd left Ken Holgate, 3rd from right Alan Armstrong, far right George Woosey.

Never knew Ken Holgate played for Wigan. I can see the Collier resemblance <g>

I don't think that's Bill Collier, I think it is Frank, but not absolutely sure.

Well I worked with one, George Woosey (electrician) at Johnpit.
& was a mate of another, later in life, Bill Collier & Margaret, his Mrs, many pics of him ( who has no resemblance) to Frank.

No record of a Ken Holgate turning out for Wigan's first team - this looks like the Wigan "A" team at that time.

I have to say the quality of the photo is excellent, but to continue the theme of first team appearances, Black and Ludgate made 1 appearance, Bill Collier 17, Hurst 37, Griffin 72, Silcock 152, Woosey 51, Armstrong 75 and Cheetham 23.

Yes the guy second in from the left lower row is my father, Frank Griffin sadly passed away on the 23th September 1986 but not forgotten
