Wigan Album

This is a picture of my grandad in barracks. He is the young one at the back. A soldier in shirt sleeves has his hand on my grandfather's shoulder. The belief has always been that this was taken when my grandad was training to drive the first Tanks. The Imperial War Museum have looked at this photograph and confirm that there are soldiers of several different regiments, so it might be that they had been specially selected. The origianl military records no longer exist (thanks to the Luftwaffe) so I guess we will never know for certain.
