Don't really Know, could be a Brian Shillinglaw.a Scot Wigan signed.
not Shillinglaw - look at the Dougie stand thats 40s early 50s is it not?
Hi is on the front row of the other team photo I've put on the site under the heading "Wigan Team 1950's"
He is on the 4 cups photo.Johny Alty was the scrum half and he must have been stand off.
Complete guess, Hurst, played 37 times and scored 31 tries between 1948 and 1955.
my guess - Tommy Parr
Ron - knew I had seen this fellow before (link below)- I asked for help in identifying him a while ago but without success - can anyone please confirm who it is?

Malc I don't think we are ever going to find out who he is??? A lot of the people who are old enough to recognise him are either dead or don't have a computer. The only other way would be to look through all the old Ovservers to see if there is a photo of him I don't think the Wigan Club would have anything.. I think the website has a beter collection of photos than they have. Probably left all the records etc at Central Park. Like the Latics did when they left Springfield Park. The problem is, the people running both clubs, have no historical connection to the town or the Clubs histories.
It is Tommy Horrocks!
I am embarrassed to say, It could be Tommy Parr. I Went to school with him,If you wish to compare, there are a number of Photos of Whelley School in the album with him on.
The best for omparison is the photo of the School team which won the Daily Despatch shield in 1949
My second complete guess and perhaps more accurate suggests it's C Kelly, played 1952 - 53, scrum, appeared 15 times for first team and scored 3 tries. I'll post what I consider is a possible line up with him present, understudy mainly to Johnny Alty.
Bill, well spotted!
It is not Tommy Horroks. His daughter has previously confirmed this.
By looking at team sheets, team photos, etc., this is definitely, C Kelly. 1952 - 53 played 15 games scored 3 tries.
Bit late but it is Cecil Kelly.
